Tokenomics
ROOT supply, genesis, burns, the trading fee and where every part of it goes, scorer rewards, holder payouts, the buyback, and the treasury and EDEN index. Every number here is the mainnet launch configuration, read from the deployed contracts of the rehearsal and the hosted demo.
1. ROOT
| Total supply | 1,000,000,000 ROOT, minted once at genesis |
| Minting | Renounced in the genesis transaction (minter = 0, sealed); mint is also hard-capped at 1 B |
| Emissions | None. No ROOT is ever issued as a reward |
| Role | Protocol token: burned by participation, bought back by fees, governs nothing on-chain at launch |
| Market | ROOT/ETH Uniswap v4 pool with its own hook; genesis liquidity locked forever |
| ROOT pool fee | 2 % of each ROOT pool trade, to Eden (adjustable only within 1–3 %) |
1.1 Genesis split
| Bucket | Share | ROOT | Terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquidity | 15 % | 150 M | Seeds the ROOT/ETH pool; the position is locked permanently |
| Treasury | 30 % | 300 M | Eden treasury (multisig), backs the treasury and index programmes |
| Team | 20 % | 200 M | Stepped lock: 3-month cliff, then 16 equal quarterly releases, fully vested at month 48. Immutable |
| Incubation | 20 % | 200 M | Backs projects Eden incubates; kept separate from the treasury; positions disclosed |
| Community | 15 % | 150 M | Incentives and community programmes |
2. Burns
| Action | Burn | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Launch a token | $500 of ROOT | No cash launch fee |
| Register as a scorer | $100 of ROOT, once | Plus a 2,500 ROOT stake, returned after a 7-day unstake cooldown |
| Score or re-score a project | $100 of ROOT per score | Inside the score transaction |
| ROOT buyback lane | 50 % of the ROOT bought | The other 50 % becomes locked ROOT/ETH liquidity |
| Unearned scorer rewards | 100 % | Above the per-scorer cap, or earned while nobody scores: bought as ROOT and burned |
USD-denominated burns are priced by the keeper-free ROOT/USD oracle (see Architecture). They fail closed when the oracle cannot price; they never fall back to the pool's spot price.
3. The trading fee
Every trade pays 3 %: on the bonding curve and, after graduation, in the Uniswap v4 pool through Eden's hook. The rate is the same for every token, and creators can never add a tax (the creator-tax ceiling is 0).
Half of the fee is the creator bucket, half the protocol bucket.
3.1 Where the fee goes
Shares of the whole 3 % fee. "Unearned" is the part of the creator bucket the creator has not yet earned through score (section 3.2).
| Destination | Fixed share | Plus, of the unearned creator share | Paid in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator | 30 → 50 % with score (10 → 30 % if unverified with no data) | — | Pair asset (after the carve-outs in 3.3) |
| Holders of the token | 5 % | 10 % | Pair asset |
| EDEN index | 10 % | 25 % | Stablecoin, deployed into stocks |
| Scorers of the token | 9.25 % | 12.5 % | Pair asset, streamed |
| ROOT buyback | 9.25 % | 12.5 % | Bought as ROOT: half burned, half locked liquidity |
| Eden (protocol revenue) | 10 % | 40 % | Pair asset |
| Grants | 5 % | — | Pair asset |
| Scoring oracle operations | 1.5 % | — | Pair asset |
Worked shares for a verified or data-backed project:
| Score 0 | Score 100 | |
|---|---|---|
| Creator | 30 % | 50 % |
| Holders | 7 % | 5 % |
| EDEN index | 15 % | 10 % |
| Scorers | 11.75 % | 9.25 % |
| ROOT buyback | 11.75 % | 9.25 % |
| Eden | 18 % | 10 % |
| Grants | 5 % | 5 % |
| Scoring oracle | 1.5 % | 1.5 % |
For an unverified project with no data the creator starts at 10 % and its score is capped at 50, so it can reach at most 30 %; at score 0 the redirected 40 % lifts holders to 9 %, the index to 20 %, scorers and the buyback to 14.25 % each and Eden to 26 %.
3.2 Creator share
creator share = f + (50 % − f) × score / 100
f = 30 % if the project is verified or has an attested systematic score
f = 10 % otherwise (and the score is capped at 50)The share is recomputed every epoch from the latest published score and can fall as well as rise. There is no grace period.
3.3 What happens to the creator's share
- 10 % of it always becomes locked liquidity in the token's own pool (held back on the curve and added at graduation; released to the creator if the token has not graduated 180 days after launch).
- The creator's buyback share (0–90 %, fixed at launch) buys the project's own token and locks it for 5 years. The creator can pause and resume it; Eden can pause it but never switch it on.
- The rest is claimable by the creator, in the pair asset, from the creator escrow.
3.4 Other inflows
Realised treasury yield (interest, dividends) is routed through the same fee router with its own split: Eden 20 %, ROOT buyback lane 47 %, grants 10 %, scoring oracle 3 %, EDEN index 20 %. There is no launch fee, so the launch-fee route carries nothing.
4. Scorer rewards
Each token's scorer lane funds that token's scorers, in that token's pair asset. There is no ROOT reward and no protocol-wide pool.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Weight | √stake × thesis quality (quality 0–1; below 0.3 earns nothing) |
| Accrual | Per second, from the moment the thesis grade is proven until 30 days after the score was made |
| Withdrawal | Any time; pays only the scorer's own wallet |
| Smoothing | Each funding is dripped over 7 days so a lump cannot be sniped |
| Cap | No scorer earns more than 5 % of a token's pool rate (adjustable 0.01–100 %, 48 h timelock, never retroactive) |
| Unearned | Above the cap, or with nobody scoring: sent to the ROOT buyback and burned |
| Unstaking | A request to unstake stops earning immediately |
| Rewarded scores | One open score per scorer per token |
The cap is applied conservatively: it never overpays. When a token has few scorers, lighter scorers are paid less than their exact capped share, and the remainder is burned. This is a documented trade-off.
The formulas — weight, drip, the conservative cap denominator, the accumulator and the solvency bound — with worked examples are in Scoring and rewards math.
5. Holder payouts
- Every day the holder poster publishes one Merkle root per token and pair asset, built from on-chain balances at a snapshot block. Contract balances (the curve, pool, vesting locks and protocol vaults) are excluded.
- A holder's leaf becomes claimable 24 hours after the root and stays claimable for 90 days. Unclaimed amounts then roll into the next round.
- A claim pays the leaf's owner; the owner may sign for a different recipient (for example a contract that cannot receive ETH). The holder share is never reduced by the creator's score.
6. ROOT buyback
- The buyback lane is booked per token and swapped for ROOT on the ROOT/ETH pool by the fee keeper.
- No large buys. Every 3 hours the keeper takes what the buyback lane has collected and buys ROOT with it in small, equal slices spread evenly across the next 3 hours (dollar-cost averaging). There is never one big, predictable buy for anyone to trade ahead of, and the buyback never moves the price in one step.
- Every slice has an oracle floor: the minimum ROOT out is derived from the keeper-free oracle, with a maximum slippage of 7 %, and each call is capped at the equivalent of $12,500 (5 ETH or 12,500 USDG). The keeper also holds the buyback while the short and long oracle windows disagree.
- Of the ROOT bought, half is burned and half is added to the ROOT/ETH pool as liquidity nobody can withdraw.
- Stock pair assets without a liquid route to ETH accumulate in the buyback vault until a route exists.
7. Treasury, grants and the EDEN index
- EDEN index. The index lane is paid in stablecoin and deployed periodically into a basket of tokenized AI-economy stocks. Starting weights: Nebius 17.25 %, CoreWeave 17.25 %, Bloom Energy 17.24 %, AMD 13.79 %, NVIDIA 11.49 %, Tesla 11.49 %, Intel 11.49 %. It is long-only, never sells to fund rewards, and a per-epoch deployment cap throttles buying in volatile markets. Index prices are pushed by a dedicated publisher key (on a 0.25 % move or hourly) and fail closed when stale.
- Index token. The basket is wrapped in a transferable ERC-20 whose net asset value is published per epoch. Creation and redemption are restricted to authorised participants.
- Treasury. The 30 % genesis bucket and realised yield fund the treasury book; yield is routed back through the fee router (section 3.4).
- Grants. The grants lane accrues to a grants treasury that funds non-dilutive grants to consistently scored projects.
8. Values that are still open
Sleeve targets for the treasury book, the index token ticker, the per-epoch index deployment cap and risk parameters, the grants round size and council, and the authorised participants are decided before the treasury and index programmes start; they do not affect launch, trading, scoring or fees.
Figures are the mainnet launch configuration. Parameters marked adjustable change only through the Eden Safe and the 48 h timelock. Nothing here is investment advice.
